Adoption Support Counsellor

This role involves working with individuals and families affected by adoption, providing therapeutic services to address grief, trauma, identity, relationship, parenting, drug and alcohol, domestic violence, and mental health issues.
The successful candidate will engage clients using strengths-based assessments and risk minimisation processes, work with them to research, create, monitor, and evaluate their client plan and outcomes, identifying strengths as well as areas of risk.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide face-to-face, video, and telephone counselling services to clients.
- Facilitate connection meetings and provide debriefing support to clients.
- Engage in ongoing learning and training opportunities.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, counselling, or psychology.
- Understanding of key issues surrounding adoption, including trauma and its impact, identity, and reunion issues.
- Experience delivering trauma-informed evidence-based programs and therapeutic services, individually and in groups.
