Job Description

The Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning at the University of Houston-Downtown is seeking student workers to place at off-campus organizations for the fall/spring semesters.

This is an off-campus college work-study position that offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community engagement and service learning.

Job Responsibilities
  • Tutors will work in educational settings (schools or non-profits) to help elementary school students better comprehend math, science, or reading.
  • Community engagement interns will hold internship positions within a local non-profit in an area related to their academic major or specific interests.
Requirements
  • Must be a current UHD student.
  • Must be enrolled in at least six credit hours.
  • Must have a work-study award from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interest in community issues, engagement, and social justice.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and in a leadership role.
  • Organizational skills.
