About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Engagement Officer to join our team at Hope Community Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing community awareness programs to promote mental health and wellbeing among young people.

The Community Engagement Officer will work closely with local consortium members, young people, and stakeholders to design and deliver health promotion activities, projects, and community events. They will also lead the development of a culturally and contextually appropriate Community Awareness Plan, ensuring the voice of young people is always present in every area of our service.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with and engaging young people with mental health, alcohol and other drug, and other social issues. They will also have a strong understanding of relevant legislation, government policies, and strategic directions in relation to mental health and alcohol and other drug disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement community awareness programs to promote mental health and wellbeing among young people
  • Work closely with local consortium members, young people, and stakeholders to design and deliver health promotion activities, projects, and community events
  • Lead the development of a culturally and contextually appropriate Community Awareness Plan
  • Engage in regular liaison with local consortium members and other stakeholders in the delivery and coordination of youth and community activities
  • Design and coordinate events for target groups to increase the profile of our service and in collaboration with key stakeholders and deliver key messages around mental health literacy, reducing stigma, anti-discrimination, and early help seeking
  • Manage and maintain our website and social media platforms to develop opportunities for youth engagement and service promotion
  • Produce documents and promotional material of a professional standard that comply with branding policy, suitable for external communication to a variety of target audiences
  • Support the planning, development, and delivery of mental health literacy education sessions for young people, parents, families, and friends, sector, and community
