Health Information Administrative Professionals are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of patient registration and tracking systems in emergency department settings. They play a critical role in facilitating effective patient care by accurately recording and updating patient information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Registration and Tracking: Health Information Administrative Professionals are accountable for registering and tracking patients, ensuring all relevant patient information is correctly recorded in hospital systems.
  • Liaison and Communication: They facilitate communication between medical, nursing, and other staff members regarding patient registration, admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: These professionals must ensure accuracy in their work to guarantee that patient records are available and accessible to the next nurse or clinician.

In addition to these key responsibilities, Health Information Administrative Professionals may also support clinics by receiving new referrals, creating outpatient appointments, and preparing patient documentation for onward transmission to Medical Records departments.
