Health Information Management Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Health Information Management Specialist to lead our health information management team. This role provides leadership for the health information management related portfolios, including ensuring ongoing clinical ICT system readiness and integration.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with legal requirements, improve the security and quality of health data, enhance patient care, and contribute to operational efficiencies. This position is critical in supporting the integration of digital health technologies, safeguarding patient privacy, and optimising HIM practices for the benefit of patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage contemporary health information management business processes and systems.
  • Develop and maintain the HIMS related policies and procedures framework.
  • Manage the compliance of data provision under legislative requirements, including clinical classifications.
  • Ensure appropriate compliance reporting against Key Performance Indicators and State and Commonwealth legislation relevant to Privacy and Retention of Health Information.
  • Liaise with Aegis Head Office for all general IT and ICT issues for prompt resolution.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a HIMS management role.
  • Experience in Clinical Coding and management of a clinical coding team.
  • Experience in implementation of integrated digital health platforms in a hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards related to HIMS functions.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise own workload, contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment, and respond flexibly to meet emerging demands.
  • Professional approach to liaising with all Health Care Practitioners, Staff and Fellow Colleagues.
