We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Care Specialist to join our team at the Department for Child Protection. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable children and young people in care, while gaining valuable skills and a formal qualification.
Key Responsibilities- Provide emotional support and guidance to children and young people in care, helping them to build confidence and develop essential life skills.
- Work collaboratively with our team to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring the unique needs of each child and young person are met.
- Assist with daily routines, including meal preparation, hygiene, and activities, to promote a sense of normalcy and stability.
- Offer trauma-informed care and support children and young people to manage challenging behaviors.
- Assess individual needs and develop strategies to promote social and living skills, facilitating effective transition into the community and/or reunification or reconnection with families.
- Job satisfaction through making a real difference in the lives of children and young people.
- Accreditation: we pay you to complete the nationally accredited Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention qualification.
- On-the-job training and mentorship to support your professional development.
- Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including membership to the Department's State Wide Aboriginal Training (SWAT) program.

- South Australian Driver's Licence P2 or above.
- South Australian Working with Children Check.
- First Aid certificate: HLTAID012 - Provide Emergency First Aid in an Education Setting.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including AM, PM, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
