About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Worker to join our team at the Department for Child Protection. As a Child and Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable children and young people in our care, providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to grow and develop.

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for guiding and empowering young people to become confident and capable individuals. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement individualized plans to meet the unique needs of each child and young person, ensuring they receive the support and care they require to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support and care to children and young people in our care, including personal care needs, meal preparation, and hygiene
  • Plan and attend activities to promote life skills, social development, and emotional well-being
  • Offer trauma-informed care and support children and young people to manage challenging behaviors
  • Assess individual needs and develop personalized plans to ensure the best possible outcomes
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of children and young people at all times
  • Develop and maintain relationships with children and young people, their families, and other stakeholders

Requirements
  • Relevant experience working with children and young people, preferably in a residential care setting
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
  • South Australian Driver's Licence P2 or above
  • South Australian Working with Children Check
  • First Aid certificate - HLTAID012 - Provide Emergency First Aid in an Education Setting
