Senior Arborist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Arborist to join our team at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the management and curation of our highly diverse tree collections, including risk management, tree maintenance programs, and record keeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement tree management policies and procedures, including tree risk assessments and determining risk control actions.
• Ensure accurate recording, data entry, and analysis of arboriculture collections using the IrisBG plant database and GIS systems.
• Supervise a small team of arborists and provide technical advice on tree-related matters.
• Contribute to the development of the section and mentor junior staff members.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a Diploma in Arboriculture AQF5 or equivalent, with experience in a wide range of tree maintenance and services. You will also have a Level II Chainsaw Operation qualification, as well as experience in conducting tree climbing and complex rigging works.
