Transforming the Future of NSW's Botanical Gardens

We are seeking an experienced Senior Arborist to join our team at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan. As a key member of our conservation team, you will be responsible for managing and curating our highly valued tree collections, ensuring the safety and well-being of our visitors, and contributing to the development of our conservation strategies.

About the Role

  • Manage and maintain the garden's tree collections, including risk assessments and management plans.
  • Supervise a small team of arborists, providing guidance and training to ensure excellent standards of work.
  • Develop and implement tree maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate arboriculture expertise into garden planning and development.
  • Ensure accurate recording and data entry of arboriculture collections using the IrisBG plant database and GIS systems.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent, with experience in tree maintenance, pest control, and equipment operation.Level II Chainsaw Operation qualification and experience in complex rigging and tree climbing.Qualification in Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) and ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ).Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to supervise and mentor a team.Current NSW Driver's license and ability to drive manual vehicles.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
