Mobile Plant Mechanic Job Description

Superior HDD is a leading provider of horizontal directional drilling services for large and complex projects. The company operates 6 state-of-the-art drill rigs, supported by a modern fleet of MR, HR, HC trucks, excavators, mud recycling systems, and high flow mud pumps.

We are seeking a dedicated mobile plant mechanic to join our team. This individual will be responsible for servicing and supporting drilling equipment in various job locations and areas. The position requires the ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team environment.

  • Diagnostic fault finding on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems on drill rigs, mud pumps, heavy vehicles and earthmoving equipment
  • Manage breakdown repairs and servicing of equipment
  • Maintenance reporting and liaising with the site supervisor and operations manager for all work plans
  • Complete parts request, managing fleet service and critical part requirements to ensure there is no down time
  • Be proactive in all preventative maintenance including planning and communication to the drill crew
  • Complete all work as per WHS standards and company policies and procedures

The successful candidate will have experience working on heavy vehicles and earthmoving equipment, a qualified mechanic license, and the ability to work within a team environment.
