Job Title: Senior Financial Strategist

The role of a Senior Financial Strategist is to lead high-impact projects that harness data analytics, process innovation, and emerging technologies to improve decision-making and deliver better outcomes for the community.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including agency-facing teams, IT, and reform units, as well as stakeholders across the public sector. Your insights will directly inform strategic advice to senior leaders and key decision-makers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective strategies for improving decision-making and delivering better outcomes for the community.
  • Analyse large-scale financial datasets using tools like Snowflake, Power BI, Fabric, SQL, and Python.
  • Explore AI-driven approaches to automate reporting, streamline workflows, and enhance analytical capability.

About You:

  • You have demonstrated experience in financial analysis, ideally within government or a comparable jurisdiction.
  • You have proven ability to work with large datasets, applying modelling techniques using SQL, DAX, and Power BI to generate insights and support decision-making.
  • You have experience identifying and implementing process improvements, including opportunities for automation and streamlining data workflows.
  • You have a strong interest in AI-enabled solutions, with curiosity about how emerging technologies can enhance decision-making, data use, and service delivery.
  • You have strong project leadership skills, with a track record of delivering reforms or initiatives from concept through to implementation.
