Mechanical Fitter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic Maintenance team at Vales Point Power Station. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a critical role in performing high-quality maintenance on plant and equipment.

  • Use your mechanical skills and trade qualifications to perform maintenance tasks that ensure the safe and efficient operation of our plant systems.
  • Lead and mentor apprentices and other team members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to enhance their skills and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with contract teams, such as belt splicing professionals, to ensure smooth operations and achieve project objectives.
  • Develop and conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Manage work orders from start to finish, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Apply for and receive Permits to Work, holding the necessary certifications and adhering to relevant regulations.
  • Lead small teams as needed, guiding them through day-to-day tasks and providing support and guidance.
  • Assess plant conditions, recommend improvements, and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A qualified Mechanical Fitter with experience in real-world settings since completing your apprenticeship and obtaining your trade certificate.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern power stations or other heavy industry, with an interest in working with large process plant.
  • An analytical problem-solving approach, ensuring precision and accuracy in all aspects of your work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and environmental responsibility, with a focus on delivering top-notch results efficiently and on time.
