Lead Lawyer Opportunity

Seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Lawyer to oversee legal operations, mentor a team of lawyers, and drive business development initiatives. This senior role is ideal for someone who thrives in leadership, is commercially astute, and wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a growing office.

About the Role

As the Lead Lawyer, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing legal operations
  • Mentoring a team of lawyers
  • Spearheading business development initiatives

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to take on a strategic leadership role and drive office performance while supporting staff development.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and manage the office and its staff
  • Drive office profitability and meet financial targets
  • Mentor and support lawyers in delivering outstanding service
  • Develop and maintain referral networks
  • Represent the firm in professional networks, CPD events, and community engagements
  • Manage a caseload of criminal law matters - preparing matters and appearing at court
  • Oversee compliance with legal and internal policy requirements
What We Look For

At least 5 years' post-admission experience in criminal law

Demonstrated leadership and team management experience

Strong ability to generate client work through networking and business development

Excellent legal skills and advocacy in both summary and indictable matters

High-level communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills

Commitment to high ethical standards and client care

Desire to take on a strategic leadership role

LIV Specialist Accreditation (or intention to apply)

Bonus Points

Existing referral network in the western suburbs

Experience supervising junior lawyers

Strong interest in legal education or community engagement

Ability to contribute to firm-wide initiatives and practice development
