Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for the processing of incoming patient specimens, including selection of appropriate tissue culture regimes, maintaining stocks and solutions, and monitoring and cleaning equipment to facilitate the efficient operation of the laboratory.
You will also perform other routine laboratory technician tasks according to established laboratory procedures, including establishing and harvesting of bone marrow specimens, chromosome preparations, G-banding, CD138 enrichment of plasma cells, DNA extraction, and microarray technical tasks.
The successful candidate will have a Certificate or Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory), a Certificate, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Operations, or equivalent. You will also possess good interpersonal and communication skills, good time management skills, and the ability to organise work schedules to meet daily laboratory commitments.
