We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. As a Cytogenetics Specialist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and prognostication of cancer disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Process incoming patient specimens, including selection of appropriate tissue culture regimes, maintenance of stocks and solutions, and monitoring and cleaning of equipment.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the laboratory, ensuring high-quality results and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care and support.
- Develop and maintain expertise in cytogenetics, staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Certificate or Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory), a Certificate, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Operations, or equivalent.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain.
