We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician, Grade 1 to join our team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. As a Cytogenetics Specialist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and prognostication of haematological malignancies and cancers.
Key Responsibilities- Process incoming patient specimens, selecting appropriate tissue culture regimes and maintaining stocks and solutions.
- Perform routine laboratory technician tasks, including establishing and harvesting bone marrow specimens, chromosome preparations, G-banding, CD138 enrichment of plasma cells, DNA extraction, and microarray technical tasks.
- Work collaboratively with our team to ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory.
- Certificate or Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory), a Certificate, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Operations, or equivalent.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to organise work schedules to meet daily laboratory commitments.
- Current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain.
