Your role at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital is multifaceted and critical to ensuring high-quality patient care.
- You will undertake auditing and audit projects to facilitate change management practices, improve quality of care, and minimize adverse events.
- Ensure that auditing requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards are met and facilitate the collection of clinical indicator data in accordance with the Australian Council on Health Care Standards (ACHS).
The position requires you to participate in, contribute to, and implement quality improvement and risk management into all aspects of service delivery. This includes:
- Participating in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the NSQHS Standards program.
- Data collection, report preparation, and monitoring of the ACHS Clinical Indicator Program.
- Collecting, prioritizing, and organizing reports relating to clinical incidents, audit data, adverse events, and clinical indicators.
- In consultation with relevant managers and committees, developing recommendations and action plans to improve patient safety and quality of care.
- Participating in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Investigation as required.
- Assisting with mortality reviews and clinical case review as required.
- Preparing reports and attending assigned committees and Doctor Department meetings.
- Assisting in the training and development of safety and quality portfolio holders at department level to facilitate a continuous performance improvement culture.
- Implementing clinical audits through involvement in design, analysis, data collection, report preparation, and dissemination of results to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintaining an audit schedule database and facilitating and conducting audits as per the schedule.
- Communicating results of audits to caregivers at all levels, including providing immediate feedback during observational audits.
- Developing mechanisms for and providing departmental audit feedback.
- Providing education to caregivers regarding clinical audit and incident reporting.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience with undertaking observational and retrospective auditing, including medical record review.
- Highly developed communication skills and collaborative practice.
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
- Computer literacy, particularly word processing, excel spreadsheet, and patient information software.
- Sound understanding of various clinical specialties.
- The ability to work independently.
