**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Operations Director - Accelerator Science to lead and direct our team of electrical/mechanical/software engineers and physicists.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to support accelerator science and enable innovation within Australia's national research infrastructure ecosystem.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of CAS and be responsible for managing quality related functions, including:

  • Lead and manage maintenance, development and continuous improvement of systems, processes, instruments, technologies, and equipment.
  • Guide all aspects of quality, deviations and product release along with overall compliance.
  • Apply significant technical expertise within a project management framework to lead and/or oversee the development and delivery of CAS capital investment projects for accelerator technologies, scientific instrumentation, and engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and operate within a large scientific infrastructure facility.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams of technical engineering experts to achieve excellence by inspiring an inclusive and innovative environment that promotes psychological safety.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in troubleshooting complex issues, implementing solutions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Degree in relevant field (Engineering, Science, Management).
  • Masters or Ph.D. qualifications.
  • Track record of application of technical expertise in the development of research infrastructure in relevant field.
  • Significant experience leading, managing and operating within a large scientific infrastructure facility.

About Us

Evolve Scientific is partnering with ANSTO CAS, a well-established leader in the field of specialised nuclear science, technology, environmental and state of the art research and is recognised worldwide.

CAS operates four tandem particle accelerators and a wide range of advanced engineering systems, scientific instrumentation, equipment, and technologies across twelve beamlines for accelerator science applications and twelve chemistry laboratories for specialised sample processing.

Benefits

This is a Mon-Fri, permanent position with a Band 8 classification ($149k - $167k +15.4% super) and negotiable salary based on experience.
