Director of Planning and Development

Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Planning to lead our planning and development team. As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality planning and development outcomes that support the growth and sustainability of our community.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of planning policies and strategies that align with the Council's vision and goals.
- Provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer and other senior leaders on planning and development matters.
- Oversee the planning and development team, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the community, developers, and other government agencies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in planning laws and regulations, and ensure that the Council's planning practices are compliant and best practice.
- Proven experience in planning and development, with a strong understanding of planning laws and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions that support the Council's vision and goals.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make recommendations.
