Job Description

As a strategic payroll leader, you will oversee the delivery of effective and efficient payroll operations. This includes payment, disbursement, checking, and reconciliation procedures.

You will prepare, balance, and reconcile payroll data and related tax obligations; collaborate with the finance team on reconciling FBT, superannuation, and payment summaries.

The role involves consolidating benefits with the P&C team and identifying process improvements; managing payroll workload to meet operational requirements.

You will ensure payroll information and records are maintained to statutory requirements and support internal/external audits related to payroll.

This position requires a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and delivering excellent service to employees.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures.
  • Implement benchmarking exercises and monitor changes to payroll and tax legislation.
  • Manage risk, business continuity, and internal controls within payroll.
  • Provide strategic leadership for payroll systems, reporting, and process improvements.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

Demonstrated experience as a Payroll Manager (minimum 5 years) handling payroll for 1,000+ employees.

In-depth knowledge of general payroll practices, legislation, Modern Awards, Payroll tax, WorkCover, and related jurisdictions.

Strong financial acumen with expertise in payroll calculations and processing.

Excellent time management, organizational, and priority-setting skills.

Advanced Excel and system reporting skills.

Proficiency with MS Office programs.
