Job Title: Health and Risk Professional

Orange Sky is a not-for-profit organization on a mission to positively connect communities through our free mobile laundry and shower service for people experiencing hardship. We provide a platform for everyday Australians and Kiwis to connect in a safe, positive, and supportive environment.

The Role:

This role focuses on ensuring the health, safety, and risk advice are pragmatic, innovative, best practice, and genuinely lived by the whole organization. The ideal candidate will be confident in a dynamic environment and foster a risk-aware culture where staff members adopt a positive and proactive approach to risk management.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Drive and champion a strong safety culture across employees and volunteers that aligns with organizational values
  • Provide expert advice and mentoring to embed safety leadership, wellbeing training, and engagement initiatives
  • Collaborate with teams, conduct regular visits to shifts, and represent WHS internally and externally
  • Review, maintain, and update policies, systems, tools, as well as governance and frameworks
  • Improve risk management techniques and implement controls for identified hazards
  • Hold key relationships with stakeholders, managing risks and incidents within the organization
  • Support and maintain the organization's First Aid and facilities

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years' experience in WHS, risk management, or a related field, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. WHS, Risk, Occupational Health & Safety)
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing, implementing, and maintaining WHS and risk management systems, policies, and procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of incident investigation, hazard identification, and risk assessment processes
  • Experience designing and delivering WHS training and engagement initiatives, ideally in a dispersed workforce environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships across all levels
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities independently
  • A proactive, adaptable, and collaborative mindset, with a genuine passion for the organization's mission and values
