Rostering and Training Officer: A Key Role in Delivering High-Quality Support Services
This role is pivotal to the success of our organisation, responsible for developing and maintaining staff rosters that ensure all participants receive consistent, high-quality support. The ideal candidate will have experience in rostering or workforce management, preferably within the NDIS, healthcare, or aged/disability services sector.
The Rostering and Training Officer will be responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining accurate rosters for all NDSS programs (SIL, SDA, community access, respite)
- Ensuring adequate shift coverage while minimizing unfilled shifts or cancellations
- Managing unplanned absences, late-notice changes, and emergency shift coverage
- Forecasting rostering needs based on client growth, leave schedules, and service changes
- Allocating shifts fairly, matching staff skills, compliance status, and client requirements
- Considering staff preferences and work-life balance while prioritizing participant needs
- Ensuring compliance with SCHADS Award rostering rules (breaks, overtime, max hours)
- Preventing over-reliance on specific staff and encouraging equal distribution of shifts
- Acting as the main contact for rostering enquiries from staff, participants, and families
- Providing timely communication of roster changes and confirmations
In this role, you will work closely with HR to ensure only compliant staff (with valid WWCC, police checks, CPR, First Aid, Medication competency) are rostered. You will also maintain rostering records for auditing and NDIS compliance, ensuring accurate records of shift allocations, cancellations, and coverage. Additionally, you will provide weekly reports on roster coverage, cancellations, and staff utilisation to ASM/CEO.

- Ability to remain calm under pressure and problem-solve in real-time
