About the Organization
The Global Evergreening Alliance is an innovative international entity dedicated to tackling pressing issues such as climate change, food insecurity, poverty, and land degradation. Our mission is to promote the widespread adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, including evergreen agriculture, agroforestry, and land restoration.
We focus on restoring degraded agricultural, pastoral, and forest landscapes worldwide through nature-based strategies like evergreening and regenerative agriculture, actively involving local communities. This methodology results in enhanced productivity and resilience in agricultural systems, thereby improving the livelihoods of small-scale farmers, pastoralists, and communities reliant on forests.
Our organization serves as a collaborative platform that supports and facilitates large-scale environmental restoration and sustainable agricultural intensification initiatives. These efforts aim to increase biodiversity and mitigate the effects of climate change on a significant global scale. The Global Evergreening Alliance collaborates with 100 member organizations to execute extensive land restoration projects, fostering cooperation, learning, and sharing across various sectors and borders.
Restore Africa Initiative
Under the Restore Africa program, the Global Evergreening Alliance is the project developer for multiple initiatives in East and West Africa. These projects are designed to rehabilitate degraded lands through agroforestry and Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), while also enhancing the resilience and livelihoods of smallholder farmers. The Alliance is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the design and execution of these projects through its Program Coordination Unit (PCU).
We are currently seeking experienced consultants who can provide innovative insights and expertise in the following areas:
- Modeling carbon removal in Afforestation/Reforestation scenarios
- Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification processes
- Safeguarding measures
Ideal candidates should possess a proven history of developing Project Designs and Monitoring Plans in accordance with the Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard. A deep understanding of relevant methodologies and protocols, along with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, is essential. Experience in remote sensing and collaboration with non-governmental organizations is advantageous.
