Job Overview:

A seasoned legal professional is sought to advise on renewable energy transactions and projects, negotiate commercial matters, and drive continual improvement in the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on renewable energy transactions and projects
  • Negotiate EPC contracts, supply and install contracts, balance of plant contracts, PPAs/offtake agreements, connection agreements, and O&M agreements
  • Advise on risk management activities, land acquisitions, and planning approvals
  • General commercial contracts and matters, including NDAs, consultancy agreements, services agreements, disputes
  • Manage external legal advisers, allocate resources and skills between internal and external counsel, and ensure consistent cost-effective legal support
  • Drive continual improvement across the business by assisting with the design and use of precedent contracts, adopting new processes with a focus on simplification, and delivering training to the team

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified lawyer with 4+ years PQE
  • Demonstrated experience providing advice on energy or infrastructure projects in Australia
  • Experience in large or specialised law firm and/or experience in-house at an energy or infrastructure company
  • Demonstrated ability advising on regulatory matters, including FIRB, Australian Financial Services Licences, Critical Infrastructure, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Finance
  • Proven ability to prioritise and progress legal matters, escalate issues where needed, and ensure all decision makers are identified and briefed as appropriate
  • Capability to manage external legal advisers, including managing the allocation of resources and skills between internal and external counsel and ensuring consistent cost-effective legal support
  • Demonstrated commitment to driving continual improvement across the business
