This is a unique opportunity to lead an animal care shelter, responsible for driving high-quality animal welfare outcomes through strategic planning, operational excellence, and community engagement.
- Champion animal welfare through strategic leadership and shelter operations.
- Develop and implement a local strategic plan aligned with our mission.
- Lead a team of professionals, ensuring best-practice animal care aligned with industry standards.
- Manage staff and volunteers, including recruitment, training, and performance development.
- Coordinate adoption, fostering, and paid services such as training classes and merchandise sales.
- Oversee maintenance, inventory, and compliance with regulations.
- Build stakeholder relationships and represent us at community events and education sessions.
- Analyze trends, report outcomes, and improve processes to meet strategic goals.
You are a natural leader passionate about animal welfare and community engagement, with operational and people management expertise.
- A bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field (preferred).
- A current driver's license (essential).
- Proven experience in team leadership and performance management.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior, health, and welfare.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance.
- Skilled in crisis management and WHS best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience managing budgets and reporting systems.
- Commitment to professional communication and teamwork.
- Customer service focus with positive stakeholder engagement.

This is a full-time position based at our Cairns Animal Care Centre. The successful candidate must be present during all working hours to oversee daily operations and animal well-being.
