Senior Electrical Design Specialist

Our company is seeking a motivated Electrical Design Engineer to support the primary electrical design of high-voltage transmission and renewable energy infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to grow technical skills while contributing to the delivery of detailed design work under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the development of primary substation design packages, including equipment layout, cable routing, earthing, and general arrangement drawings.
- Support basic engineering calculations, such as equipment sizing, cable selection, and voltage drop assessments.
- Contribute to design documentation and assist with drafting markups using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments (e.g., safety in design workshops), and quality checks under supervision.
- Help with reviewing manufacturer drawings and technical documentation as part of procurement support.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of design packages and documentation.
- Seek mentorship from experienced engineers and actively engage in learning opportunities to develop technical competence.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in electrical design, preferably within the substation, transmission, or renewable energy sectors (internship or graduate experience considered).
- Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, DIgSILENT, or ETAP is desirable but not essential.
- A basic understanding of electrical principles and Australian/international standards for substation design.
- Eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
