About the Role

Samsung C&T Australia requires the experience and drive of a an Electrical Design Engineer who will be responsible for the following;

• Design Electrical system
• Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products.
• Perform detailed calculations to develop manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational standards, specifications, and designs for electrical systems or components
• Analyze electrical system requirements, capacity, cost, and project needs and then develop a system plan
• Product document and record
• Creating and maintaining product documentation, including product reports and design specifications
• Analyzing and interpreting technical drawings and engineering specifications.
• Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time
• Enacting Electrical System Concept & Design Criteria, Performing in Electrical Study & Equipment Sizing Calculation, Establishing Equipment List & Electrical Load List, Preparing Technical Specification & Equipment Supplier TBE, Creating Construction Process Drawing & Deliverables, Taking-off, Electrical Bill of Material etc.
• Safety Standards
• Ensuring that products meet relevant safety standards and engineering codes.
• Procurement support
• Technical bid evaluation for electrical equipment.
• Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budge
• Team Building & Delivery
• Collaborating with other members of the engineering team to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. Attending, hosting or coordinating technical meetings.
• Client Relationships
• Define customer needs and requirements.
• Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests

Role Requirements

• B.Sc in Engineering or a recognized engineering qualification. Additional certificate in design in desirable.
• Experience
• 7+ years detailed design/engineering experience in substation, utility-scale PV, and BESS projects.
• Experience in Renewable PV Solar Farm and/or large-scale Battery Storage projects (minimum 100MW).
• Experience in AutoCAD or other software key to the discipline of expertise.
• Technical Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NER, AEMO, and NSP regulations.
• Proficiency in HV substation design.
• Experience with PV and BESS system design, integration, HV & LV AC & DC side.
• Good understanding of Substation & Renewable Energy projects Controls & Communications System.
• Ability to develop detailed electrical drawings, specifications, technical proposals & reports.
• Experience with relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, DigSilent).
• Understanding of power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, protection).
• Experience in an EPC environment managing project design scope, schedule, and budget.
• Strong ability to liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Experience in design review, verification, and assessment of renewable projects.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
• Experience with design consultant SoW drafting.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of Grid Connection Process.
