Carbon Farming Project Officer

About the Role
Elders Rural is seeking a highly skilled Carbon Farming Project Officer to join our team on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Thomas Elder Sustainable Agriculture and will be responsible for supporting the coordination and delivery of critical Carbon Farming projects for Elders Rural.
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of sustainable agriculture in Australia for a leading agribusiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Support carbon farming ACCU Scheme project administration, management, and reporting
- Utilize Elders Rural's GIS and carbon assessment programs to assess the feasibility of carbon farming on properties
- Deliver carbon feasibility reports, including client and stakeholder liaison, project design, drafting, and compiling reports
- Remain up-to-date with contemporary carbon farming project trends and regulatory requirements
- Manage internal and external technical advisers, including those related to various carbon farming methods (soil, vegetation, environmental plantings)
- Work closely with the broader Elders Rural business to ensure products meet client needs
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in Project Management, natural resource management, agriculture, GIS, or remote sensing related fields are desirable
- Experience in Project Management, including project coordination, administration, and report delivery for commercial clients
- Experience in GIS or remote sensing
- Practical understanding of carbon farming initiatives and registered Carbon Farming project implementation in Australia
- Practical understanding of farming practices that optimize carbon outcomes in agricultural businesses
- The ability to create clear and professional reports with excellent report design and data visualization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience effectively engaging a variety of stakeholders
