We are seeking a strategic Accounting Leader to join our high-performing finance team in South East Melbourne. This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership position within a fast-paced, innovative business that partners with major national distributors and supports over 140 independent retailers.

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the accounting function, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Supervise and support a small team, providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver timely financial reports, including weekly, fortnightly, and monthly reports.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Oversee cash flow management, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes, ensuring full compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax obligations, including BAS, PAYG, and payroll tax reporting.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial insights and analysis for decision-making.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the finance function.
  • Manage reporting obligations across both Australia and New Zealand.
  • Operate and maintain financial data within the ERP system (training provided).
About You:
  • Bonus if you are CPA/CA-qualified (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in managing and mentoring finance staff
  • In-depth understanding of Australian accounting standards and familiarity with New Zealand reporting requirements
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical thinking
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Prior experience with ERP systems (or similar) is advantageous, but not essential-training will be provided
  • A hands-on, proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
