About the Role
The Star Gold Coast is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Events and Operations to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the events operational teams in making growth-focused decisions that balance the needs of all stakeholders and the business.
As a seasoned hospitality professional, you will have a passion for growth and a proven track record of success in leading large professional hospitality teams in a 5-star environment. Your key priorities will be to empower team members to try new things, actively communicate the benefits of continuous improvement for the business, and advocate for change while motivating others to achieve positive results.
You will also be responsible for creating a team environment where people take accountability for their behaviour and commitments, and you will look to create best-in-class operational excellence while ensuring high standards of compliance and workplace safety are embedded in all practices and processes.

What are we looking for?
- Extensive events or food and beverage industry experience in senior leadership roles
- Previous senior management experience in a director or equivalent leadership role in a large integrated resort or high-volume environment
- Degree or tertiary qualification in either hospitality, retail, business, or equivalent
- Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the events and hospitality profession
- Experience in leading large professional hospitality teams in a 5-star environment with revenue turnovers in excess of $20m+ per annum
- Demonstrated ability in planning and resourcing people and products with strong commercial acumen in labour management and operational expenditure
- Providing strategic direction and support to the department to ensure an integrated system of employee relations and performance while ensuring organisational objectives are prevalent in any new initiatives
- Understanding of relevant statutory and reporting requirements
- Strong leadership and management skills
