Strategic Communications Leader

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead strategic planning and oversight of integrated communications. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of communications strategies that support initiatives in the health, ambulance and aged care portfolio.

The successful candidate will have strong domain expertise and insight, enabling them to identify risks and issues and collaborate with colleagues across the branch and department to ensure a consistent, connected approach.

This role involves leading relationships with senior stakeholders, including the Minister's Office, business areas and key external stakeholders across the health, ambulance and aged care portfolio.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and a proven track record of thinking strategically.
  • Develop and implement effective communications strategies that accurately represent client and business needs.
  • Identify media risks and opportunities, and work collaboratively with the media team, program areas and Minister's Office to respond appropriately.
  • Utilize insights to understand audience needs and perspectives, ensuring all communications outputs meet these needs.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in the health care sector and its challenges, applying this knowledge to inform and guide communications decisions.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with external stakeholders and networks, representing the branch on committees and other groups as required.
  • Drive innovation and process improvements within the Communications and Engagement Branch.

Requirements:

  • Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or valid work permit/visa.
