Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Associate to the Honourable Justice Tinney.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Judge, assisting with various tasks and responsibilities.

The role is ideal for those looking to gain valuable experience in the legal profession and develop their skills in proofreading, editing, and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining court records, preparing material for use by the Judge in court, and performing other administrative tasks.
  • Clerking in Court: The individual will clerk in court, taking verdicts, arraigning the accused, and liaising with court staff, the public, the media, and the profession.
  • Research and Proofreading: The Associate will conduct research and prepare reports, as well as assist with proofreading and editing of documents.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful applicant must have completed a law degree or be close to completion. Post-admission experience is not essential, but an interest in becoming an advocate is desirable.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong Academic Record: A strong academic record in law is essential, with excellent proofreading, editing, typing, and computer skills.
  • Organisational Capacity: The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with advanced organisational capacity.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently convey information over the telephone, in writing, and in person.
