Judicial Associate to High Court Judges

Role Description
The Honourable Justice Priest and the Honourable Justice Beach are seeking a skilled legal professional to support their work as associate judges. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in civil and criminal appellate matters, working closely with the judges to manage their judicial and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the coordination of the Judges' judicial and administrative tasks;
- Preparing research memoranda and case summaries, and supporting the production of judgments;
- Clerking in court, ensuring proceedings are accurately recorded and technological aids are available for counsel;
- Managing the Judges' chambers, including coordinating travel arrangements and accommodations for circuit courts;
- Accompanying the Judges to regional Victoria, as required.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Admission to legal practice and relevant employment experience;
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with judges and other stakeholders;
- A high degree of sensitivity and professionalism, particularly when dealing with sensitive or confidential matters;
- Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in courtroom technology;
- Well-developed proofreading and editing skills;
- An excellent academic record, demonstrating strong academic credentials.
