About the Role

The State Government of Victoria, Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Senior Manager, Aboriginal Service Design and Governance. This role is a critical part of the Aboriginal Initiatives Unit in the Family & Sexual Violence Programs Branch, Family Safety Victoria, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective leadership and management of the team responsible for Aboriginal governance structures and provision of high-quality policy, project, and reporting support to monitor progress and deliver actions against the Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way – Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families, the Aboriginal 10-year Family Violence Agreement.
  • Lead the delivery of critical actions under Dhelk Dja Strategic Priorities, including Self-determining Aboriginal family violence support and services, System transformation based on self-determination, and Aboriginal-led and informed innovation, data, and research.
  • Build strong relationships across Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal services, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, and other government departments/agencies to support outcomes in line with Dhelk Dja.
  • Maintain an understanding of issues impacting stakeholders and projects and identify and actively manage emerging issues and areas of risk.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and principles of self-determination.
  • Proven highly developed leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of public policy and the political environment in relation to Aboriginal communities and the Aboriginal Affairs reform agenda.
