Rheumatology Research and Education Leader

We are seeking a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Rheumatology to contribute to the teaching and research in this specialty. The position will be located in the Rheumatology Department, Westmead Hospital and at Westmead Clinical School.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership in developing and maintaining a clinical, translational or basic science research program relevant to Rheumatology
  • Develop, implement and promote clinical/education programs for MD students relating to Rheumatology
  • Contribute to clinical care as part of the healthcare team in the Specialty of Rheumatology, including actively participating in Rheumatology Department activities
  • Promote a culture that is collaborative, team-oriented and respectful of the skill sets and opinions of all staff

Key Requirements:

  • PhD in a field relevant to Rheumatology
  • Registered as a medical practitioner in NSW with recognition by AHPRA as a Specialist Rheumatologist and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, or equivalent
  • Emerging national/international reputation and research track record, including publications in peer-reviewed international journals and success in obtaining research funding and supervision of research students
  • Experience in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives within Rheumatology
  • Network of relationships with key academic and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the Specialty, Hospital/School/Faculty and University

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in Rheumatology
  • Strong research and publication track record
  • Ability to lead and manage teams
