Database Administrator

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining databases that support critical operations.

As a hands-on DBA, you will be responsible for ensuring high availability and performance of databases, as well as securing them against potential threats. You will work closely with the broader team to support defence operations and ensure seamless integration with other systems.

Key responsibilities include administering SQL Server databases using SSMS, configuring IIS for hosting web applications, monitoring database performance, and troubleshooting issues. You will also perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades across database and server environments, partner with developers to optimise queries and enhance application performance, and create and maintain clear documentation of database processes and configurations.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in a defence or government environment.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Proficient in configuring and managing Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Familiarity with database backup and recovery strategies.

Preferred qualifications include experience with OutSystems or other low-code application development platforms and knowledge of database security practices and compliance requirements in a defence context.

The successful candidate will hold a current NV1 security clearance.
