Policy Officer Job Description

The Biosecurity Operations Division delivers regulatory functions that protect Australia's biosecurity and imported food risks.

The Division focuses on effectively managing these risks through defensible, evidence-based decisions and the successful delivery of initiatives and programs.

The Border System and Planning branch drives innovation in business strategies to improve regulatory activities. This includes developing operating models to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, providing operational integration, and establishing performance monitoring and reporting frameworks.

The Governance and Planning team manages divisional governance and planning frameworks, providing strategic support to executive teams. The team oversees responsibilities through integrity frameworks and management of officer ID cards.

As a Policy Officer - Governance and Planning, you will assist in planning meetings for governance committees, develop correspondence and papers, and implement effective governance arrangements.

To be successful in this role, you will need to engage with staff, manage significant issues or projects, and communicate complex ideas effectively to senior executives and stakeholders.
