Cloud Financial Operations Leader

The position of Cloud FinOps Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy of our cloud infrastructure.

This senior role requires a forward-thinking individual to drive cost efficiency and sustainability across all cloud services, ensuring maximum value from our investments.

The successful candidate will establish and lead the FinOps function, collaborating with key stakeholders to optimise resource utilisation and management of hybrid cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide strategic direction for cloud financial operations, aligning FinOps initiatives with our overall IT strategy and driving substantial cost savings across all environments.
  2. Continuously monitor and analyse cloud spending, identifying trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to ensure efficient use of cloud services, creating metrics to measure and drive optimisation.
  4. Lead cross-functional collaboration to enhance cost monitoring tools, ensuring clear visibility into cloud spending and promoting financial accountability.
  5. Develop regular financial performance reports and insights, including cloud cost analysis and quarterly forecasts, providing actionable advice.
  6. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, proactively identifying and leading cost optimisation improvements.
  7. Manage vendor relationships, negotiating contracts to secure the best terms and conditions for our cloud services.
  8. Ensure that cost efficiency is embedded throughout the developer journey, gathering feedback to identify and address pain points and measuring the impact of improvements.
  9. Provide strategic guidance to promote cost optimisation strategies and effectiveness, encouraging continuous improvement initiatives relating to cloud spend.
  10. Ensure compliance with our financial policies and procedures, including cloud cost visibility and actuals management.

Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification, with proven success in managing complex projects within a large organisation.
  • Strong understanding of cloud costs and proficiency in using cloud cost management tools.
  • Extensive experience in leading and implementing large-scale financial operations within cloud environments, driving significant cost efficiencies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of identifying and implementing cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to promote cost awareness and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining budgets, forecasts, and financial reports related to cloud usage and expenses.
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud pricing models and vendor negotiation strategies, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • A continuous learning mindset to stay updated with industry trends and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms and strong technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks, focusing on establishing cross-functional practices for cloud financial management.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cost savings and efficiency improvements in a fast-paced environment.
