Our hospital is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Medical Officer to join our medical team. The role involves providing effective medical services to patients under supervision in a complex clinical environment.
- Coordinate patient admission, management and discharge planning with the healthcare team.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient information through meticulous record-keeping.
- Assess and manage patient care by communicating effectively with patients and their families.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to arrange consultations and coordinate patient care.
- Making decisions on patient care with senior medical staff.
- Manage patient care independently with some supervision from senior colleagues.
- Document patient care to meet medico-legal standards.
- Work a 80 hour fortnight including evening, weekend and night shifts.
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with multidisciplinary teams, consumers, carers and other clinical divisions. The Senior Medical Officer will be supervised by Senior Medical Officers and Staff Specialists on duty.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues in a multidisciplinary workforce.
- Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Share knowledge and experiences with colleagues.
- Demonstrate good communication skills and commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Complete comprehensive patient histories and document progress notes.
- Formulate management plans and ensure appropriate investigations are undertaken.
- Design and communicate discharge plans to patients and their families.
- Be first point of contact for assessments and treatment.
- Liaise with supervising medical staff and complete death certificates as required.
