About the Role

Mind Australia Limited is seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Peer Practitioner to join our team in the Bendigo area. As a Peer Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering person-centered outreach services to clients, supporting their recovery goals and promoting their overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize your lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to inform your work and that of the team, providing a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges faced by clients.
  • Deliver high-quality outreach services, facilitating positive educational and social experiences that promote recovery and wellbeing.
  • Support clients to remain in their community, live independently, and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Provide information and mentoring to clients to establish connections with families and carers, create community networks, and access relevant services.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a coordinated, integrated response to client's recovery goals.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
  • Lived experience and willingness to support clients through sharing your own learnings and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs, and interacting with families and carers.
  • Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices, including risk mitigation, trauma-informed care, and family-inclusive practice.
  • Relevant experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams, and key stakeholders.
What We Offer
  • Salary packaging up to $15,900 and additional remote area benefits may give you access to further salary package certain expenses such as rent, mortgage interest, residential utilities, and property purchases.
