Job Description

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Legal Aid NSW. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality education to students with diverse needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement evidence-informed literacy and numeracy programs to meet the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver inclusive education programs that promote student engagement and academic success.
  • Provide individualized support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including developing and implementing behavior support plans.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless transitions and support for students.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of whole-school initiatives that promote inclusive education and student well-being.

Requirements

  • Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Ability to use evidence-informed practices to deliver differentiated and engaging literacy and numeracy programs.
  • Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills to promote collaboration and positive partnerships.
  • Commitment to enriching opportunities for students and a willingness to develop and implement extra-curricular programs.
