Job Title: Strategic Innovation Architect

Job Description

This is a critical role for driving innovation across policy, ICT, and service delivery initiatives. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to ensure the Department's innovation portfolio aligns with organisational priorities and government objectives.

The role requires the ability to integrate innovation methods, tools, and resources into departmental policy development processes, drive the adoption of innovative practices and emerging technologies to improve service delivery outcomes, and facilitate stakeholder engagement across government, industry, and not-for-profit sectors to co-design, prototype, and pilot solutions.

The selected candidate will represent the Department's innovation agenda at portfolio, APS-wide, and cross-sector governance forums, identify, assess, and scale effective innovation practices and outcomes, build capability and foster a culture of innovation across the Department and portfolio agencies, and provide strategic advice on innovation opportunities, risks, and enablers to senior executive stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in creating and evolving architecture models to inform business processes and ICT systems.
  • Experience leading innovation portfolios, driving adoption of emerging technologies and innovative practices.
  • Ability to facilitate engagement across government, industry, and not-for-profit sectors to co-design, prototype, and pilot solutions.
  • Ability to provide high-level strategic advice to senior executive stakeholders on innovation opportunities, risks, and enablers.
  • Proven ability to foster a culture of innovation and build capability across departments and agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent the Department's innovation agenda in governance forums.
