Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Officer to join our team at the North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC). The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our team of speech pathologists, teachers, and education assistants to provide specialist speech and language services to students with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).

About the Role

The Speech and Language Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing speech and language programs, providing direct and indirect services to students, and building the capacity of teachers and education assistants to support language learning outcomes. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of speech and language development, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement speech and language programs for students with DLD
  • Provide direct and indirect services to students, including assessment, intervention, and consultation
  • Build the capacity of teachers and education assistants to support language learning outcomes
  • Collaborate with the speech pathology team to develop and implement language programs
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, including the development of reports and progress notes
Requirements
  • Graduate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent
  • Experience in developing and implementing speech and language programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of speech and language development and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting
