We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Speech and Language Officer to join our team at the North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist speech and language services to students with speech and language impairments.
About the RoleThe NEMLDC is a specialist school for children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). We provide specialist speech, language and academic intervention for children from Kindergarten to Year 2. Staff members work in a collaborative team that includes teachers, speech pathologists, school psychologists, education assistants and the administration staff.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement speech and language/literacy programs for students with speech and language impairments.
- Provide specialised speech and language services and support to students with speech and language impairments.
- Monitor and evaluate language impaired students' progress both individually and in the context of language/literacy programs.
- Develop and deliver professional development programs for teachers and education assistants.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements:
- Experience in developing speech and language/literacy policy and programs and knowledge of latest trends and research in speech and language development.
- Ability to develop, implement, and review speech and language/literacy programs.
- Ability to provide specialised speech and language services and support to students with speech and language impairments.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to prepare reports and prepare and deliver professional development programs.
