Job Overview

The Dean of Academics will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing both student wellbeing and academic performance across the College. This key position reports directly to the Head of Secondary School, providing strategic oversight of academic administration, compliance, student achievement, and future pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic oversight of academic administration, compliance, student achievement, and future pathways.
  • Lead timetabling, assessment calendars, examinations, and management of academic data.
  • Guide course selections, transitions, and collaborative programs with other Colleges.
  • Oversee staff and teams, including the Future Pathways Co-ordinator and Heads of Department.
  • Ensure alignment with national standards.
  • Analyse data to drive evidence-based approaches to teaching, learning, and student progress.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in the education of secondary school students, with demonstrated leadership in academic curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance requirements, SCSA standards, and academic registration guidelines.
  • Proven ability to analyse data, implement strategies, and provide academic mentoring to support student growth.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing staff, building teams, and guiding future pathways initiatives.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff, and parents.
