About the Role

Kirinari Community Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to provide individualized support for children and young people residing in our Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) homes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct person-centered support and care to young people, ensuring their individual needs are met. This will involve crisis intervention and ongoing support, maintaining a safe and welcoming home environment, and empowering young people to develop skills that support them to live a good life within their local community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support young people to develop independent living skills
  • Support young people to achieve their goals
  • Support young people to engage in their local communities
  • Daily care and support, including assisting with household duties
  • Transporting young people to and from appointments
  • Supporting connection to family and culture
  • Working alongside other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care
Requirements
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability
  • Empathetic, open-minded, and resilient nature
  • Understanding of person-centered and therapeutic models of care
  • Willing to engage in and foster a productive team culture and a safe environment for the participant
  • Compliant with documentation
  • Experience in similar roles is highly favored but not compulsory
  • An understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice (or willingness to learn)
  • Must be available to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings, and sleepovers
  • Ability to be physically active and engage with young people playing games/sport etc.
