**About the role**

Kirinari is seeking Youth Support Workers to provide individualized support for children and young people residing in Kirinari OOHC homes.

We’re looking for resilient and committed team members who can support young people to build skills and strengths within a therapeutic model of care to provide safety and empowerment.

The overall responsibilities of Youth Support Workers are to provide direct person-centered support and care to young people who reside in Kirinari OOHC homes, ensuring their individual needs are met. Youth Support Workers provide crisis intervention and ongoing support, maintain a safe and welcoming home environment, and empower young people to develop skills which support them to live a good life within their local community.

Here at Kirinari, we are looking for dedicated, compassionate and understanding individuals to join the support team of a young man with unique needs and requirements.

Exhibiting complex and challenging behaviors including ASD, ADHD and an intellectual disability. These can present in the forms of heightened aggression towards himself and others. Despite these challenges, he is kind, humorous, and curious. His interests include music, especially listening to others play guitar, sports and outdoor activities, maintaining an active lifestyle, and anything related to cars, trains, and trucks.

A typical day in the life of a Youth Support Worker could include:

- supporting young people to develop independent living skills
- supporting young people to achieve their goals
- supporting young people to engage in their local communities (through school, community groups etc.)
- daily care and support, include assisting with household duties
- transporting young people to and from appointments
- supporting connection to family and culture
- working alongside other professionals (such as Behavior Support Practitioners) to deliver multi-disciplinary care.

**We are looking for people who fulfil the following criteria**:

- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability.
- Empathetic, open-minded, and resilient nature
- Understanding of person-centered and therapeutic models of care
- Willing to engage in and foster a productive team culture and a safe environment for the participant
- Compliant with documentation
- Experience in similar roles is highly favored but not compulsory
- An understanding of strength-based trauma informed practice (or willingness to learn).
- Must be available to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers.
- Ability to be physically active and engage with young people playing games/sport etc.
- Be happy to travel to Orange for shift fill

**Prior to commencement you will need to obtain a NDIS Workers Screening Check, a paid NSW Working with Children Check, be registered on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register and complete a National Criminal History Check
- paid for by Kirinari.**
