Senior Financial Accountant Job Description

About this role:

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join our finance team as a senior financial accountant. The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The primary focus of this role will be to deliver accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting functions for our Australian business. You will work closely with our financial controller, head of corporate finance, and the financial planning & analysis team to provide high-quality financial information that supports operational and strategic decision-making.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and presenting financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements;
  • Ensuring technical accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all financial outputs;
  • SUPPORTING process improvement initiatives across the finance function;

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our financial accountants and overall knowledge base of the Australian finance team.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • An understanding of business from both a financial and operational perspective;
  • The ability to identify problems, collect and analyse data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions;
  • Experience in EOM reporting and analysis, as well as continuous improvement in key accounting processes;
  • Strong technical and professional knowledge, preferably with a background in big 4, large company or mid-tier;
