About the Role



The UNSW School of the Arts & Media is seeking an Indigenous Research Fellow (Identified) to provide Indigenous research and governance expertise to the Australian Cultural Heritage Framework (ACHF), a national research infrastructure project.



This role involves attending the office in-person at least two days a week, with flexible work from home arrangements for the remaining days. The position is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only.



Key Responsibilities




  • Provide expertise in Indigenous data governance to support the co-design, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems across ACHF infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous leads at university and industry partners to nurture trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge holders and organisations.
  • Establish and manage a consultation process with industry on Indigenous data governance for the cultural data sector.
  • Play a key role in the development and trajectory of the ACHF project to ensure it achieves its KPIs.
  • Collaborate with ACHF project partners in the development and delivery of capacity building activities regarding the application of CARE principles, Indigenous Data Governance and Sovereignty, Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP).


About You



We are looking for an individual who possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders. You will have a deep understanding of Indigenous data governance principles and practices, as well as experience in collaborating with Indigenous leads and industry partners.

  • A competitive salary package of $123,620 - $145,730 per year, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading payments.
