Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Engineering Manager to lead statutory and essential services compliance across our prestigious Sydney CBD precinct, including EVT Head Office, the State Theatre, QT Sydney, Cahil House, and Dudley House.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on asset compliance, audit readiness, contractor performance, and risk management across multiple heritage and hospitality assets. You will collaborate closely with senior hotel management, group risk, and auditors while championing engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage fire safety and essential services compliance, including Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) preparation and submission.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, addressing non-conformances and driving continuous improvement.
  • Oversee building compliance programs using the MyBuildings compliance platform.
  • Audit and enhance preventative maintenance programs across critical building services.
  • Support Capex planning, feasibility assessments, and lifecycle strategies for major plant and equipment.
  • Mentor and support Maintenance Managers and Chief Engineers in compliance execution.
  • Maintain and build a network of consultants and specialist contractors.
  • Contribute to EVT's sustainability and WHS initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, facilities management, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in managing building compliance, statutory services, and risk mitigation.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Building Codes, Fire Safety Regulations, and AFSS compliance.
  • Experience working across multi-site hospitality, entertainment, or commercial asset portfolios.
  • Familiarity with compliance software and asset management systems (e.g., MyBuildings).
  • High-level communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Capex project support and contractor management experience highly regarded.
